Presented at International Placemaking Week 2024 - “Short Talks: Living with the Land.” Presentation featured below.
Overview
A collaborative effort between government agencies and ʻohana to preserve a historic fishing village and community stronghold amid lava recovery.
My Role
Coordinated stakeholder meetings, developed supporting communications and visual media, and informed engagement strategy to ensure that community voices and cultural priorities shaped planning decisions. Conducted outreach and interactive polling to strengthen participation and transparency.
Impact
Revitalize Pohoiki became a model for culturally grounded recovery and collaborative planning, demonstrating how inclusive communication can support both ecological and community resilience.
